The Powder Pink Jewellery Box is a limited-edition silk scarf inspired by a treasured jewellery box remembered from my mother’s dressing table. Made from 100% mulberry silk twill and finished with hand-rolled hems, it is a story of family keepsakes, inherited beauty and the way an ordinary object can bring someone back to us.

The scarf began with a box. Powder pink, softly patterned and always present on the dressing table, it had passed through the family before coming to my mother. Like many old objects, it carried a history that was only partly known. Whose hands had first opened it? What rings, chains and small bright things had once been kept inside?

As a child, I remember the box as part of the room: the mirror, the bottles and brushes, the stillness and that familiar patch of pale pink among them. It never demanded attention, yet somehow it held it.

Only 5 pieces are available worldwide. Once sold, The Powder Pink Jewellery Box will never be reprinted.

The Story Behind the Scarf

Some objects remain in the memory because they belonged so completely to a person.

They do not explain who that person was, nor do they need to. Instead, they preserve a detail: a colour, a familiar place on a table, the sound of a lid being lifted or the quiet ritual of choosing something from inside.

The jewellery box belonged to that private world. It sat on my mother’s dressing table among the objects she used each day, its powder pink surface softened by a delicate Victorian pattern. It was not grand or showy. Its beauty was quieter than that, and perhaps more lasting because of it.

As a child, I did not know the full story of the box. I knew only that it had come through the family before reaching her. That history gave it a certain mystery. It had held the belongings of people who came before us, although their names and the jewellery they placed inside had begun to disappear from memory.

The box became a small meeting place between generations: an inherited object carrying traces of lives that could no longer be completely recovered.

What Objects Remember

Family keepsakes acquire meaning slowly.

A jewellery box may begin as somewhere practical to place precious things. Over time, it gathers associations of its own. It becomes connected to a room, a person and the gestures repeated around it. Eventually, the box itself becomes precious, regardless of what remains inside.

That is the feeling at the heart of The Powder Pink Jewellery Box.

The scarf is not simply inspired by the appearance of an old object. It is about the emotional life that object came to hold: my mother’s dressing table, the women who may have owned it before her and the strange power of certain possessions to preserve a sense of someone’s presence.

Each Thackray scarf begins with words. A story becomes an image, and the image becomes silk. Here, that story is carried through powder pink, Victorian ornament and the quiet beauty of something passed carefully from one generation to the next.

Why It Makes a Special Gift

The Powder Pink Jewellery Box was created for someone who understands that the most meaningful objects are rarely the loudest.

It will appeal to those who love soft colour, vintage detail and family pieces with histories of their own. Its powder pink palette gives the scarf a gentle femininity, while the story behind it brings greater depth to the design.

This is not simply a pink scarf. It is a limited-edition piece of silk artwork inspired by motherhood, inheritance and the memories held within familiar objects.

It makes a thoughtful Mother’s Day, birthday, Christmas, anniversary, milestone or thank-you gift. It may be especially meaningful for a mother, daughter, grandmother or someone who treasures jewellery, family keepsakes and objects passed down through generations.

Made from 18-momme mulberry silk and finished with hand-rolled hems, the scarf is designed to be worn and kept. With only 5 pieces available worldwide, it is also genuinely rare. Once the edition has sold, the design will not be produced again.

How to Wear The Powder Pink Jewellery Box

At 90cm x 90cm, The Powder Pink Jewellery Box is a generously sized square silk scarf that can be folded around the neck, draped over the shoulders, tied in the hair or styled as part of an outfit.

As the silk is folded and tied, different parts of the pattern come into view. Larger areas can be displayed as a statement, while narrower folds reveal smaller details of powder pink and Victorian-inspired ornament.

Its soft palette can be worn with neutral shades for an understated effect or used to bring warmth and delicacy to darker clothing.

When it is not being worn, it remains a collectable piece of original textile art inspired by family memory and the quiet beauty of inheritance.
